Hi, My Name is Bart!
Hi, I’m Bart the Art Bat, the Museum’s fun and funky family mascot. You’ll be seeing a lot of me at the Museum, checking out art and hangin’ with the kids!
Get to know Bart
Bart answers questions from kids like you!
Q. Where are you from?
Bart: I just flew in from the sunny beaches of Panama.
Q. Why did you come to the Birmingham Museum of Art?
Bart: I came here because I love art and the BMA is my favorite Museum! And my great, great, great, great grandfather is here in the Museum. You can find him on the third floor.
Q. What kind of stuff do you like?
Bart: Lots of things! I love to hang out with the kids at the Museum. I like to paint and draw. I fly around the Museum at night and keep an eye on things and check out all of the cool art.
Q. What is your favorite color?
Bart: GOLD! I like it because it’s shiny and yellow like me.
Q. What do you eat?
Bart: I eat fruit and bugs (all kinds of bugs- I LOVE bugs!! I can eat almost 600 mosquitoes in one hour!). I also like the kids’ menu at the Terrace Café. The chicken fingers are my favorite- yummy!!
Q. Are you a vampire bat?
Bart: Yes, but I don’t bite people…only bugs and very small rodents (yuk!). And I don’t turn into a vampire. Although I do sleep upside down!
Q. Do you have any special powers?
Bart: I have supersonic hearing, so I always know what’s happening at the Museum. I can see in the dark, so I help keep the Museum safe at night. I sleep upside down, so come hang with me at the Museum. And I am the only mammal that can fly!
Q. Where can we find you?
Bart: At the Museum of course! I’ll be hangin’ out or flying around looking at art!
